Next task for 8 C

Dear students we are going to work on this next week

Remember to finish the reading comprehension. This is going to be graded in pairs.(10 minutes)
Focus on language: Look at the words in blue in the reading. Then read the rules below and choose the correct option.

1.     We use words like: very, really, extremely, incredibly, to make adjectives
a.     stronger
b.     weaker
2.     This words are called intensifiers. They appear
a.     before the adjective they are
b.     after the adjective they are
3.     Re-write these sentences with an intensifier. The adjectives are underlined to help you

b.     Is it necessary to clean your teeth twice a day? __________________________________

d.     Tara does lots of sport, so she’s fit. ___________________________________________

Task planning (1 hour)

Ø  Team work (5 students per group: A godmother and her goddaughters): Create a role-play taking into account the given criteria. Even though you are going to work in teams, grades will be rated individually in the presentation.
The teacher will provide feedback and a word reference dictionary to each team. http://www.wordreference.com/

Extra-class activity (2 hour)
Prepare the role-play and record yourselves presenting it. Remember to wear the appropriate costumes. Do this to rehearse as many times as you consider enough to accomplish the asked criteria.

Task report (2 hours)

Present the 5-10 minute- role play to the whole class. Take into account the rubric provided.

LANGUAGE FOCUS (1 hour)

Look at these questions and answers.

If I suffer from migraine:
1.    What should I do?  I think you should take a pill.
2.    Shouldn’t I eat cheese or junk food? Yes, I agree with you. You shouldn’t eat junk food or strong cheese.
3.    What should not I drink? I believe you should not drink alcohol or coffee.
4.    Where should I go? In my opinion you should go to the doctor.
5.    What should I avoid? In my experience you should avoid lighted and noisy places.

Write five more questions and answers giving advice to someone who is sad. Use should and should not. Follow the previous examples.


DISCUSSION CLASS (1 hour)

Look for information, write it and share it with your class next time.
Is it always safe to eat fish? Why? What should we know?

Evaluation criteria
External assessment

Students are going to write their own role-play  (5 to 10 minutes) working in teams of five and then they will present it in class. They must present evidence of use of technology to improve their performance. Video-record of the rehearsal.

To complete this task successfully you need to

1.     Present the script before acting.
2.     Get and bring any costume or material you need before class.
3.     Present evidence of the rehearsal in a file (Memory stick or Google Drive)
4.     Use vocabulary related to healthy life style.
5.     Use vocabulary related to health problems.
6.     Give advice using should and shouldn’t correctly.
7.     Express opinions in the role-play. (Use: In my opinion, I think, In my experience, I believe … )
8.     Present ideas fluently.
